Jennifer,
I am quite certain that your Benware line from Tupper Lake was originally Benoit-Laguerre. Our Benware line was originally Benoit-Vaillancourt or Vaillancourt-Benoit. Obviously both families (as many other Benoit lines not related to either of our lines) anglicized the name to Benware. Having grown up in Bloomingdale, NY I was always aware of the Tupper Lake Benware's and hoped there was a family relationship, but I don't believe there was. If you are related to Lorraine Benware Westcott then your line is Benoit-Laguerre. I traced that line back to their arrival from France and would be happy to forward it to you.

Hi - I am in midst of career transition and did a google search on my name to see what folks would see. Lo and behold: there's another Barbara Benware out there. Who knew? My family line stems from rural VT. Westfield, Coventry, then Newport. My Grandfather, George Julian Benware, was one of 6 children, born in Westfield, VT to Julian Benware Jr., originally of Quebec and Elizabeth Mary Jacques. Julian Jr. was son of Julian Benware Sr., of Quebec, then western VT. It appears that Julian Sr. was born ~1835 and had 7 sons, presumably producing a lot of Benwares. You've done a lot of work on this, I see. Do you suppose we're related? Best wishes, Barbara
